Ten nights · Three properties
Where you'll be staying
Three four-star hotels, each chosen for its position rather than its lobby: a design hotel in the middle of the best neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, a seafront tower on the Golfo Nuevo, and a lodge on the edge of the jungle twenty minutes from the falls. Breakfast is included at all three.

Buenos Aires · Nights 1–4 and 10
Pleno Palermo Soho
Sixty-three rooms over eight floors in the middle of Palermo Soho, with a ninth-floor terrace, a pool and a spa on top of it.
The hotel describes itself as "warmth, design and well-being," which is marketing, but the position is not: you step out of the door into the densest concentration of good restaurants, cafés, bookshops and design stores in the city. That is the entire reason this property was chosen over something grander in a quieter district.
Rooms run from 28 to 60 square metres across the building, with plenty of natural light. Yours are the Balcony Junior category, which is what the name suggests — a private balcony over the Palermo streets.
Downstairs there are two restaurants: Raggio Ostería and Ru Omakase Atlántico, both doing international cooking with local ingredients. Breakfast is an artisan buffet. On the ninth floor there is a terrace with a solarium and an outdoor pool, open seasonally — late October is the start of that season — plus a spa with dry and wet saunas and a gym.

Puerto Madryn · Nights 5–7
Hotel Península Valdés
A seafront hotel on the Golfo Nuevo, a short walk from the centre of town and the promenade.
The property is the established address in Puerto Madryn, and the reason it was picked is the view: your rooms are the Panoramic category, 22 square metres, facing straight out over the water. After a nine-hour day on the steppe, coming back to a window full of gulf is worth a lot.
Everything you need in a base for three nights is here — restaurant, bar and café, buffet breakfast, 24-hour reception, room service, a gym, and a small spa with a jacuzzi. The seafront promenade is at the door, and the Ecocentro and the port are both a walk away.
It is a working town hotel rather than a wilderness lodge, and that is the right choice for this leg: you are out all day and want a hot shower, a good dinner and a comfortable bed at the end of it.

Puerto Iguazú · Nights 8–9
Iguazú Jungle Lodge
A lodge built into the Paraná jungle, a few blocks from the centre of Puerto Iguazú and about twenty minutes from the falls.
This is the property that most obviously belongs to its setting. The hotel sits where the Iguazú River meets the forest, and the architecture leans into it — timber, open galleries, planting everywhere, and rooms that open onto balconies looking into green.
Your rooms are the Master Deluxe category: 30 square metres, a balcony with a jungle view, a bathroom with a bathtub, air conditioning, heating, a ceiling fan and a 50-inch television. The twin configuration comes with two queen-size beds, which is a good deal more generous than the word "twin" usually implies.
There are outdoor pools, a restaurant, a café, parking and 24-hour reception. Guests in recent reviews single out the breakfast, the pool after a day in the park, and how close the forest feels from the room.
